Dr Matt Winning is a London-based Scottish comedian and environmental economist who can be seen as the environmental correspondent on Dave's 'Unspun with Matt Forde'
In 2017 and 2018 Matt performed sold out runs of his third and fourth solo shows 'Filibuster’ and ‘Climate Strange' at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Both were built as storytelling lectures and received considerable critical acclaim. Matt has a PhD in climate change policy and thus combined his two worlds of comedy and environmental economics in an attempt to help save the planet.

He now performs these shows or selective excerpts at various science and comedy festivals, talks and events across the UK.
Early in his career Matt quickly gained a reputation as an exciting new act after winning the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2011 and appearing in the final of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2012. He also reached the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Awards in 2010, as himself, and again in 2011, as a character.
In 2015 he took his debut hour show 'Mugabe and Me (3D)' to the Edinburgh Fringe and in 2016 Matt performed his second show 'Ragnarok' at the Fringe, which is now available to watch on the Next Up platform. He also wrote and appeared as part of a the sketch show I Am Wario with Stuart Laws and Anne Klein.
Matt is the co-creator of the 'Bearpit Podcast Podcast' in which he performed with Mat Ewins, John Kearns, Adam Hess, Fin Taylor, Richard Gadd and Lolly Adefope. He has performed in several mixed-bill shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe including The Comedy Zone in 2013 with Lucy Beaumont, Tommy Rowson and Carl Hutchinson. Matt has also performed shows at Glasgow Comedy Festival, Machynlleth Comedy Festival, Leeds Science Festival, Leicester Comedy Festival, Brighton Fringe and Copenhagen Zulu Festival. Matt has also appeared in BBC Scotland TV show Scot Squad, as a guest panelist on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking The News, and acting in Josie Long's most recent feature film Super November.
